Not all Violins and Roses

A friend was talking about my blog and saying in portrayed the life of a hooker as all wonderful and happy. So I thought I would give a few things for girls to think about should they contemplate working in this area of the sex industry.

The Job

Most people I talk to ask about the hours and ask about the number of clients. They tend then to do some manual calculations to work out how many clients per hour. Sadly, clients are not like trains. They do not have a set timetable. What this means is that you can have quiet periods where you are just sitting there twiddling your thumbs, playing on the internet or just chatting. Then you have the busy periods where you are like a conveyor belt.

It can be quite stressfull and soul destroying when you take a client and look to reception to see a full booking list and a full reception area. You know you are not going to stop for a good while yet. It really is a quick wipe, and on to the next one. Just think of saying goodbye to one guy you have fucked, and then taking in another to fuck...knowing that there is someone waiting after that.

Prostitutes get ill, and receptionists are not known to refuse bookings or customers. You could have times when the brothel is understaffed, or like in mine, when you are the only girl working.

The Pay

All rates are based on the establishment and depends on the location and class of the establishment. I work in a mid level brothel in the burbs. Our money is based more on volume than quality. It is still a very well paid job, but always remember you normally have to give around half your rate to the brothel. Sometimes higher.

Also, you are going to have days when you are just not in the mood. In an office you can just hide away for the day. In this game you have to go in and have sex with close to 10 different men whilst trying to keep a smile on your face.

The Uniform

Many jobs have uniforms, ours just happens to be lingerie, stockings and stupidly high heels. Think to yourself how you would feel walking around, sitting, and even eating dressed like this for 10 hours a day.

Public Perception

Prostitution is still sneared upon by many. Just look at the papers and you will see what headlines there are when someone is "outed" as a hooker. If you go to work in a brothel, you may think that you can hide behind the brothel door and no one will know what you are. You will soon see that being a Prostitute is almost a lifestyle as a mere job. Unless you are working in the middle of nowhere, all the local residents will know what you are. If you smoke, then be prepared to stand outside with a raincoat covering your fishnets and hooker shoes. You are not going to pass yourself off as a secretary.

Where I work, there is a pub nearby, and everyone knows the hookers from accross the road.

Now you might be able to brush all this off, but it takes a while to get use to snide comments, innuendo and questions about how many men you have fucked today.

General

We are not sex robots. We have the same menstrual cycle as most girls. In this game you are faced with a choice, take the time off and lose nearly a weeks money, or stick a years supply of sponges up "there" and hope for the best.

You are also going to want to be sensible. You will want to take regular tests for Aids and STD's. Again, this meaning you having to be fairly straight about your proffesion.

This is my job, and my life at the moment. I just wanted to give a little balance to all the positive stuff I have posted.
